Hall of Fame Inductee - 1963 Boys' Relays Teams

This group is remembered as some of the fastest athletes the Quincy High School track program has ever had. Heck, they should be remembered as some of the fastest athletes the school has ever seen.

The seven track standouts combined to form three relay teams for the QHS boys in 1963, running the 400- and 880-yard relays as well as the mile relay.

Those seven - Raymond Buckner, Wayne Campbell, Les Fonza, Oliver Hunter, Lee Pappas, Leon Robbins and Tom Shelton - were dominant.

They won championships at the Quincy Relays, the Fort Madison Relays and the Central relays. The mile relay team set an event record at Fort Madison by finishing in 3 minutes, 30.8 seconds.

At the district meet, the 880 team set a school record with its finish of 1:33.4.
