Hall of Fame Inductee - Harley Markley

A football letterman at Quincy High School from 1938-40, Markley was an outstanding lineman who was twice voted to the Chicago Daily News and Champaign News-Gazette All-State teams as a tackle. He was then selected as the captain of the all-staters after his senior season. At 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, Markley was noted for his agility and quickness on the football field. His career never went beyond high school, however. He entered the United States Marine Corps in World War II and was killed in action in the South Pacific.
